What should we do to free our planet from terrorism?

So asked Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, the 11th President of India, on Answers and set our Ask the Planet initiative rolling in January. He has inspired millions across the country and the world and is deservedly lauded as a true people’s President. Being a prominent leader of today’s times, he was looking for an answer to the question that was a source of concern to him for a long time. But little was he expecting such a stupendous response and for that, we thank each and every one of you who answered.

Dr Kalam’s question remains one of the most answered in all of our Answers history. It garnered close to 30,000 answers, with over 15,000 answers coming from school children. Picking out the best answer was by no means an easy task and with the help of the editorial team, Dr Kalam has chosen his best answer based on two parameters – participants’ thinking and action-oriented suggestions.

And the winner, after days of sifting through thousands of answers, and narrowing down the list to two, is Sugato Mitra. Close on the heels is Karthik Durairajan. Since only one answer could be picked out as best answer, Sugato wins top honors. Dr Kalam also added that a combination of these two answers offers a possible solution to combat terrorism to a certain extent.

As the nation gets ready for a new president today, it is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to one of the finest presidents India’s ever had. We salute you, sir, and we will truly miss you. Thank you for being a part of our extended Answers family. And congratulations from all of us at Answers, Sugato! We, along with you and Dr Kalam, hope for a terrorism-free world and hope your answer is what it takes to realize a peaceful tomorrow.
